HEATHER CLARKE- REGISTRAR

GODFREY W. HINDS LLB (Hons) - Deputy Registrar (Companies)

Mr. Godfrey W. Hinds was called to the Bar in 2000. He graduated from the Hugh Wooding Law School in the same year having previously obtained a LLB (Hons) Degree in 1997. 

Mr. Hinds has gained much experience from his service in various capacities in the Public Service particularly in the Inland Revenue Department where he worked as a Senior Revenue Inspector and Auditor prior to 2000.

His most recent position was in the office of the Attorney General attached to the Solicitor's General Chambers where he dealt with matters of a revenue nature. Mr. Hinds has always viewed the operation of companies with keen interest particularly the smaller companies as he feels these have a significant part to play in our economic development.

 

DEBORAH BECKLES, LLB Deputy Registrar (Intellectual Property)

Deborah Beckles, Attorney-at-Law is a graduate of the University of the West Indies (Cave Hill Campus) and the Hugh Wooding Law School.
She spent several years at the Ministry of Housing and Lands as Legal Officer, and lastly as Deputy Registrar of Titles before joining the Corporate Affairs and Intellectual Property Office in April 2005, where she holds the post of Deputy Registrar.



JOAN CUMBERBATCH - Assistant Registrar 

Miss. Joan Cumberbatch was for many years a Legal Assistant attached to the Supreme Court of Barbados. She was assigned to act as Senior Legal Assistant at Corporate Affairs and Intellectual Property Office in January 1985. The post of Senior Legal Assistant was subsequently changed to Corporate Affairs Officer I in which she was appointed. Miss Cumberbatch was initially attached to the Companies Section but was later transferred to the Trade Marks Section.

In May 1998, she was appointed to act as Assistant Registrar and is as such a Notary Public in and for Barbados. Her duties include Adjudication and Recording of Mortgages and other charges, performing Notarial duties, Adjudicating Bills of Sale, signing Business Names Certificates, Affixing Stamp Duty to legal documents and assisting the Registrar with certain duties.

Ms. Cumberbatch was subsequently appointed to the post of Assistant Registrar

 

PAT EASTMOND - Corporate Affairs Officer I (Intellectual Property)

Mrs. Pat Eastmond was appointed to act as legal assistant on 2nd October 1980 at the Registration Department. She was transferred to the Companies Section of the Department of Corporate Affairs and Intellectual Property Office in 1985 when the said office was established. She was later appointed on promotion to the post of Corporate Affairs Officer II on 1st May 1989 and is presently Corporate Affairs Officer I in the Trade Marks Section.

She has also acted in 1999 and 2000 as Assistant Registrar. 

Her duties includes the processing of documents filed in respect of Trade/Service Marks, Industrial Designs, Patents and Charities.


DAVID BLACKMAN - Corporate Affairs Officer I (Corporate Affairs) 

Mr. David Blackman has been attached to the Corporate Affairs and Intellectual Property Office since its inception in 1985 and began as a clerical officer in the Intellectual Property Section of the office. He was assigned to the Corporate Affairs Section of the Office after he was appointed to act in the post of Legal Assistant which was later re-designated Corporate Affairs Officer II.

He currently holds the the post of Corporate Affairs Officer I and his duties include the processing of documents filed in respect of the registration of Companies, Societies with Restricted Liability, Business Names, Limited Partnerships, Trade Unions and Newspapers and he is also the senior supervisor of his section.
